USS KITTIWAKE - CAYMANS NEWEST SHIPWRECK ATTRACTION

The USS Kittiwake arrived in the Cayman Islands on Christmas Day, & was sunk in spectacular style, at the top of Sandchute, on January 5th 2011.

She is a former submarine rescue vessel & served the US Navy for over 54 years, before being decommissioned in 1994. Resting at 64ft in the sand, she is 251ft long, 44ft beam, & with 5 decks, sits 47ft tall. The Kittiwake is thought to be possibly the 'cleanest' wreck ever to be sunk as an artificial reef.
