Have you always wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater? If you want to try scuba diving, but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is for you. PADI dive shops offer this program either in a pool, off a beach or from a dive boat. You can try scuba close to home or while you’re on vacation at a dive destination. While not a scuba certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world.
To sign up for a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience, you must be at least 10 years old. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary, but you need to be in reasonable physical health.
You learn the basic safety guidelines and skills needed to dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional. If you make an open water dive, you’ll practice a few more skills in shallow water to prepare for your adventure. Get ready to:
Your safety in our care is our primary concern. The refresher is a standard requirement amongst Cayman dive operators, for those with a break of more than 2 years since their last dive. Starting off with a 100ft wall dive from the boat, after a long break from diving can be a little overwhelming.
We would therefore like you to take a refresher class prior to joining us on the dive boat. The course begins with a straight forward briefing on equipment set up & function, discussion on dive theory, and mastery of basic skills & buoyancy techniques in shallow water.
Once you are comfortable, your instructor will take you for a guided shore dive so you can put your buoyancy skills into practice. We’re confident you'll really enjoy the dive & get a lot out of it. Air consumption permitting, you'll get a 60 minute dive around a beautiful shallow reef (40-60ft), and you’ll be introduced to all kinds of fish & little critters you'd otherwise overlook.

Our PADI Open Water Course is split it into 3 parts -
1. Knowledge Development online to understand the basic principles of scuba diving.
2. Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills (in shallow water).
3. Open Water Dives to review your skills & explore!
The theory can be completed online at your own pace before you arrive on island. Once completed, you are ready to start the in-water training which is scheduled over three x half days. The first half day you will start with a shallow water session where you will learn all the necessary skills to become a diver.
Following that, you will complete two shallow water dives from shore (Open Water Dives 1 & 2). The location will be determined by weather & sea-conditions, so we can be sure to make the process as relaxed as possible. In addition to some skills, you will have your first opportunity to explore the beautiful shallow reefs of Grand Cayman.
Finally, we will schedule you for Open Water Dives 3 & 4 - your final steps to completing your dive certification.
Cost includes all dive equipment rental, confined water dives, 4 x open water certification dives from shore, and certification fees. It does not include the online theory (PADI e-learning) - this part of the course is US$179 which you pay directly to PADI when you register for your course online.

If you have already completed the dive theory and confined water skills, you can join us to complete your certification dives in the warm clear waters of the Cayman Islands.
Its not permitted to do all 4 training dives in 1 day, so we will schedule your dives over 2 x half days, morning (7.30-11.30am) or afternoon (12.30 - 4.30pm) - availability permitting.
Cost for the Referral includes all equipment required for the course, dive instruction, and of course the 4 dives.
Due to depth limitations on certification courses, and in order to allow students to progress at their own pace, all training dives are done from shore.
Locations selected are based on sea conditions, but there are several shore diving sites that are not only ideal for training, but offer a wealth of marine life.
We would need to see your referral paperwork as soon as possible, to determine that you have completed everything as required.
